OUR WINES
NAMING
A two-tier system operates at Bunjurgen Estate with respect to wine naming and selection. The wines may be named as The Colonel’s Selection if certain superior quality criteria are met, and this is not an automatic decision from year to year - or be classified as a Bellbrook Series wine in keeping with the name of the property and the colonial history.
The Colonel’s Selection name has its origin in the fact that the first four vines, which were planted in 2003, were actually planted by two Colonels and two Nurses. The Colonels were Father and Son, and the two Nurses two wonderful family friends. The Colonel’s Selection title is awarded to Bunjurgen Estate’s Premier wine, hand-picked to assure quality fruit, and exhibiting exciting fruit driven flavours enhanced by focused ageing.

The Pearl Destiny |
The Pearl Destiny, a 2007 Chambourcin Shiraz blend, is a Colonel’s Selection wine. This wine is a unique blend of Chambourcin and Shiraz produced at Bunjurgen Estate from a year marked by significant drought, freezing temperatures in winter and an extraordinarily hot spring.
The wine provides an exciting merge of these two great varieties: the easy drinking, smooth Chambourcin now has the additional complexity of the classical Shiraz.
The individual wines were minimally barrel aged to impart the finesse, and finished to ensure the clear fruit driven flavours are paramount. The Pearl Destiny label elaborates on the linkages, which brought together three individuals to work in establishing the vineyard.
The three long established families have their pasts linked with the Jardine expedition to Cape York, pearls, land exploration, and settlement in the colonies of New South Wales and Queensland and seven generations of Australian life. |
Bin 345 Vintage |
